Michelle Thibodeau is a bilingual Singer-Songwriter and Actress. She was born and raised in Moncton, New Brunswick but is currently based in Toronto, ON.
Her genre can be described as Pop with live-sounding acoustic instruments, similar to Joni Mitchell or Adele. She focuses heavily on the lyrics in her songs, using clever phrasing and play-on-words.
In the last few years Michelle has released 3 originals singles: Let It Move You (2014), Hey Hitchhiker (2015) and Checkmate (2016 Factor funded). Her music has received Canada-wide airplay on CBC Radio One including 9 radio shows, in addition to blogs, radio shows and TV features.
Michelle has a passion for many instruments, but accompanies herself primarily with a guitar, loop pedal, and/or piano at her live shows.
Since moving to Toronto and completing the Artist Entrepreneur Program at Canada’s Music Incubator (Coalition Music), Michelle has performed at 30+ venues including 3 Bier Markt locations, The Rivoli, Union Station’s Holiday Market and has had 3 consecutive Indie Week Showcases:(Lou Dawgs 2015, Painted Lady 2016, NightOwl 2017).
In addition to her Singer-Songwriter career, Michelle is also a Musical Theatre performer and graduate of the Canadian College of Performing Arts. Some of her professional stage credits include Liesl “16 Going on 17” in The Sound of Music, a finalist for the role of Dorothy (Mirvish) on Andrew Lloyd Webber/CBC’s Reality TV Show “Over The Rainbow” and her most recent role as leading lady “Nancy” in Oliver! with the Capitol Theatre (NB) in 2017.
Michelle Thibodeau is currently recording her upcoming album at Oak Recording Studio in Toronto. She plans to release this new original music in May 2018!
