Artists & Managers Mentored

Distance Travelled by CMI (km)

CMI Bootcamps are nationally available two-and-one-half day professional development workshops for emerging artists & artist managers. We offer two versions of bootcamps: Artist Entrepreneur & Artist Manager. These camps are respectively modelled after CMI’s full programs which are delivered in Toronto, ON. Each bootcamp is customized by CMI and our partnering organizations to meet the unique needs of participating artists/bands & artist managers through pre-camp questionnaires and interviews. Topics covered CMI bootcamps include (but are not limited to):

  • • Establishing and running your business
  • • Revenue streams and funding development
  • • Goal Setting & Action Plans
  • • Marketing & Branding
  • • Touring
  • • Team Building
  • • Music Publishing & Music Licensing

CMI Bootcamps are limited to 15 artists/bands or artist managers in order to provide each participant with valuable one-on-one time with CMI’s team of music industry professionals and to directly address their individual challenges.

“I can’t thank CMI enough for all your hard work. Reading the exit interviews really captured the genuine enthusiasm and optimism the Artist Manager Bootcamp brought to our community.  Incredible work from everyone at CMI. Very eager to continue the dialogue and work together on future projects.”

Cory Crossman, Music Industry Development Officer, City of London

“Thanks so much for coming to Hamilton and providing such a high caliber bootcamp for our music industry.”

Jacqueline Norton, CEcD, Hamilton Music & Film Office

“In all the years I’ve been doing this and of all the panels/workshops I’ve taken to try to build my career, none have been as informative or as well done.”

Leanne Harrison, Artist Manager Bootcamp, Alberta

“Supporting our local music industry is so important to the WindsorEssex Economic Development Corp. The CMI bootcamp and leadership team have been an excellent resource.”

Rakesh Naidu, Chief Executive Officer (Interim), Windsor Essex Economic Development Corp.

“It was a comfortable atmosphere to ask and learn about music business insight. The open floor approach allowed us to share and express our thoughts and questions. Seeing some of the formats and templates of the ‘paper work’ allowed us to witness an acceptable precedent, for submission (i.e. grants and bios).”

Fraidon Shlemon, Artist Manager Bootcamp, Windsor

“CMI has put together an infinitely valuable program that blends engaging discussion-based learning with customized personal mentorship. The result is an effective training tool that provides long-term support to Canada’s music industry from the ground up.”

Jen McKerral, Music Outreach Officer, Music and Film in Motion (Cultural Industries Ontario North)

“The info was clear and concise with personal anecdotes that solidified the content. Very professional while maintaining accessibility and approachability. Essential for reaching Northern audiences.”

Jesse Reid, Artist Entrepreneur Bootcamp, Yellowknife
