CMI’s Programs Manager is one of two such positions and demands an ability to lead, collaborate, and provide support as required. 
CMI’s Programs Manager is also actively engaged with the Live Events and Marketing departments, and contributes to the overall strategic direction of the organization.  

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:   

Developing, scheduling and executing in-house (core) and third-party (custom) programs, including managing artists, and internal/external business and industry mentors.  

Actively leading and mentoring during programs, workshops and webinars.  

Managing project quotes, costs and logistics related to program delivery: booking facility; advancing and technical support.  

Assisting with the development of all program marketing assets, materials, applications, content, and tool kits.  

Pro-actively communicating program scheduling and objectives with staff, artists, managers, mentors, funders and partners.  

Project managing multiple programs simultaneously.  

Developing, collaborating and managing all aspects of custom programs for third parties.  

Tracking, compiling and communicating key program performance indicators/analytics.  

Assisting in the preparation of funding, sponsorship and customized third-party program proposals.  

Delivering completion reports to partners, funders, sponsors (includes writing, data capture, design, managing budgets, securing invoices)  

Supporting the organization’s application submission, review and screening process.  

Assisting CMI’s Executive Director and Board of Directors as required.  

Representing CMI at industry, partner, sponsor and community events   

Occasional travel and evening/weekend work.  

 

 Requirements: 

The successful candidate will have the following knowledge and skills:

An entrepreneurial and collaborative spirit  

A general knowledge of business concepts and the workings of the music business   

Excellent public speaking, presenting, writing, proof-reading, and editing skills  

A basic understanding of the arts sector and not-for-profit arts organizations  

Exceptional communication skills and emotional intelligence, complemented by soft skills such as listening, empathy, generosity, integrity, humility, honesty, and work ethic   

Ability to lead, focus, problem solve and be decisive in a fast-paced office or remote environment, while managing multiple personalities, projects, and deadlines  

Great attention to detail in the areas of project management, planning and logistics  

The ability to take initiative and work independently or with teams.  

A willingness to collaborate, learn and take on new challenges    

Excellent time management, prioritizing, troubleshooting and administrative skills   

Strong computer skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel  

A desire to grow and develop within the organization  

A technical knowledge of music, vocals, songwriting and production is an asset.  

An understanding of funding bodies related to music and/or not-for-profit/charitable organizations is an asset  

Any graphic design and basic coding experience considered an asset    

Bilingualism is an asset  

 

EXPERIENCE/ EDUCATION:   

At least three years’ related experience in a performing arts or music industry organization or an equivalent combination of experience in professional development, mentorship or coaching.  

Post-secondary education in music or arts administration considered an asset
